Election 2016: Columbus pushes to beat 2012 Early Vote record

The heightened momentum in the in-person early vote at Columbus, Ohio center may likely surpass the 68,721 early votes of the 2012 Presidential Election with recorded 55,921 votes so far and five more days of voting.

 The difference of 12,800 may fall in two days as the last four days since Sunday, October 30 to Wednesday, November 2 have been on the rise with Sunday recording 2,558; Monday 4,480; Tuesday 4,309 and Wednesday 5,243.  

The combined total votes cast of returned mailed absentee ballots and in-person votes, now stand at 223,037, four days to the Tuesday, November 8 Presidential Election.

This represents about 26.57 percent of the 839,358 registered voters in Columbus, Ohio.

A breakdown of voters and the returned mailed absentee ballots made available to TheNewAmericans shows that the Unaffiliated have returned 71,678 of the 97,553; Green Party returned 164 of 214; Libertarian returned 93 of 117; Republican returned 42,011 of 51,886 and Democrat returned 53,170 of 59,279.

Voting at the Morse Road, Columbus, Ohio Early Vote center is now every day, including Saturday, November 5 and Sunday, November 6 till Monday, November 7. All polling stations will open on Tuesday, November 8.

Meanwhile, a non-governmental organization, the New Citizens Advocacy Coalition, NCAC has offered free transportation to people who want to get to the Early Vote center on Morse Road, Columbus, Ohio but may not be able to afford transportation to get there.

Coordinator for the transportation, Ibrahima Sow (614-495-6578) said “transportation will be provided free no matter where the person lives in central Ohio.”
