The Franklin County Board of Elections, Columbus, Ohio has said that no ballots are being held by the USPS for postage as a result of corrections on mailing of absentee ballots made late last week by the county.

 

A statement from the county Board of Election said that all will be delivered to the FCBOE.

 Late last week the Franklin County Board of Elections corrected its instructions to voters who are mailing absentee ballots back to its office. The absentee instruction sheet previously listed the return postage rate for a two sheet ballot as $.47 instead of $.68. The postage for mailing back ballots with one page is $.47 and $.68 for two sheets.
The Board of Elections coordinated with senior US Postal Service officials to ensure that any ballots mailed with the incorrect return postage information will be delivered to the Franklin County Board of Elections despite any incorrect postage.

“No ballots are being held by the USPS for postage and will be delivered to the FCBOE,” it added.

61st Annual Columbus International Festival holds Nov. 12/13

The 61^st Annual Columbus International Festival will hold at the Ohio Expo Center, State Fair-Celeste Center on Saturday, November 12 and Sunday, November 13, 2016.

The Chair of the Festival, Dr. J. S. Jindal said the festival will feature “live cultural entertainment; U.S. Naturalization Oath Ceremony on Saturday, November 12 at 12:00pm noon; Ethnic foods and cooking demonstrations; International shopping bazaar; Free festival "Passport" and global; activities for kids; Parade of Nations on Saturday and Sunday at 3 p.m.; Free health screenings, consultations and flu shots.”

He said that ‘the 2016 Columbus International Festival will continue a 61 year tradition of bringing together the diverse cultural community in Central Ohio.”

Dustin Weaver wins 2017 Ohio Teacher of the Year

When Dustin Weaver teaches English classes at Chillicothe High School, everyone listens, including students, administrators, fellow teachers and aspiring teachers from college education classes. His passion for making teaching engaging and effective, and his dedication to students are two of many reasons why Weaver received the title Ohio Teacher of the Year on September 22 at his alma mater.

“Dustin Weaver exemplifies excellence in teaching,” said Paolo DeMaria, state superintendent of public instruction. “He shines the light on the outstanding work our teachers do every day in the classroom and in the community to make a difference in their students’ lives. He deserves our thanks and recognition and so does Chillicothe City Schools for creating conditions in which teachers can succeed.”

Chillicothe High School requires all new teachers to observe Weaver in conducting new, school-wide teaching approaches that Principal Jeff Fisher, 2015 Ohio Principal of the Year, introduced to better engage students and improve learning. Dedicated to continually improving, Weaver has invited the entire school staff to critique his videotaped lessons as they all work together to hone their teaching skills.

Previously at Logan Elm High School in Circleville for six years, Weaver returned to his hometown high school four years ago. Through his service on the district and school leadership teams, he focuses on improving attendance, reducing discipline incidents and addressing issues facing students who come from low-income homes.
