Drelyse Restaurant hosts Columbus Mayor

Saturday, September 9, 2017, Mayor Andrew Ginther of the City of Columbus, Ohio began his visit to businesses owned by New Americans in Columbus at Drelyse African Restaurant located on Tamarack Avenue. 

Lisa Bannerman, owner of Drelyse Restaurant told the New Americans that “having the Mayor of Columbus come to our restaurant is a dream come true.”
Lisa, who moved to America from Ghana said, “the diverse flavors from ’The Land of Gold' came to the beautiful land of buckeyes” when she partnered Syed to open a restaurant in Columbus to serve the delicious African food they ate growing up.

According to her, “Drelyse has been ranked number one in all the forums in Columbus for years due to the high integrity and cleanliness in preparing food the restaurant loves to serve. You will see a smiling face always happy to serve you the most delicious food.” 

Ghanaian cuisine and gastronomy is diverse, and includes an assortment of soups and stews with varied seafoods and most Ghanaian soups are prepared with vegetables, meat, poultry or fish. Fish is important in the Ghanaian diet with tilapia, roasted and fried whitebait, smoked fish and crayfish all being common components of Ghanaian dishes.
