Thursday June 2, 2016 the Per Scholas, Columbus, Ohio, IT free-training institute held its first all alumni reunion/networking event at the Grange Insurance building in downtown Columbus.
“We want to reconnect with you and the other classes would love to network with you. You don't want to miss this evening of food and fun and connecting with your exclusive network of IT Professionals,” according to an invitation sent to all Per Scholas alumni in May by Yulonda Stevens, Admissions Coordinator - Columbus/Cincinnati.

The well attended event was truly an opportunity for alumni to meet and network with classmates, earlier and later sets. As they mingled and chatted about what they currently do, their jobs, specialization and other interesting matters the essence of Per Scholas could be acknowledged for the fact that all the alumni passed through the school to become IT professionals without paying school fees or the professional examination charges.
Per Scholas was founded more than 20 years ago to break the cycle of poverty by providing technology access and education in underserved communities.
“We prepare smart, dedicated people to work in key technical roles, always designing our courses in response to what employers tell us they need. We are building a more diverse technical workforce by creating on-ramps for women and people of color, groups staggeringly underrepresented in IT employment today. 90% of our students are people of color, a third are women and a third are disconnected young adults,” according to Per Scholas website.
Per Scholas IT-Ready is made possible by the generosity of the Creating IT Futures Foundation and JP Morgan Chase. Additional funding in Columbus is provided by the City of Columbus and United Way of Central Ohio; and in Cincinnati by the Greater Cincinnati Foundation.
