U. S. Court halts second Trump’s travel order

A U.S. District Court Judge Derrick Watson has put on hold the new President Donald Trump’s travel ban on citizens from six countries, challenged by  Hawaii State, citing "questionable evidence supporting the government's national security motivation."

The order was to have gone into effect Thursday, March 16, 2017.

In a 43-page ruling, District Judge Derrick Watson also said that Hawaii would suffer financially if the executive order goes into effect and blocks the flow of students and tourists to the state.

The ruling was issued less than two hours after hearing arguments on Hawaii's request to block the ban that was to have gone into effect Thursday.

According to Judge Watson, “Hawaii is likely to succeed on a claim that the ban violates the First Amendment right protecting people against religious discrimination.”

The countries that would have been affected by the recent order which was to begin Thursday include Syria, Iran, Yemen, Libya, Sudan and Somalia.
